Follow an unforgettable 8-day trekking route through the central High Atlas Mountains of Morocco, linking the Aït Bouguemez Valley, remote mountain camps, the Tarkkedite Plateau, the 4,071-metre summit of M'Goun and the spectacular M'Goun Gorges.
Along the way, discover traditional Amazigh villages, ancient agricultural landscapes, high mountain passes and remote valleys far from the busiest trekking routes in Morocco.

Leave Marrakech and travel south into the central High Atlas, passing through Azilal and crossing the scenic mountain road towards the Aït Bouguemez Valley. Known as Morocco's Happy Valley, Aït Bouguemez combines fertile agricultural land, traditional Amazigh villages and spectacular mountain scenery.
On arrival, settle into a local guesthouse and meet the team before beginning the trekking adventure the following morning.

The trekking adventure begins in the beautiful Aït Bouguemez Valley. Walk through cultivated fields, apple orchards and traditional Amazigh villages built from earth and stone.
Gradually leave the valley behind as the trail climbs towards Arous. The changing landscape provides a natural transition from the cultivated foothills to the remote mountain terrain of the M'Goun Massif.

Continue deeper into the M'Goun Massif as the trail climbs towards the high mountains. The route crosses the Tizi n'Oughri Pass at approximately 3,450 metres, providing expansive views over the surrounding High Atlas landscape.
Descend from the pass onto the broad Tarkkedite Plateau, a remote high-altitude landscape surrounded by some of the most impressive peaks of the M'Goun region. Camp here at approximately 2,900 metres in preparation for the summit day.

The defining day of the expedition begins with an early ascent towards the summit of M'Goun. At 4,071 metres, M'Goun is Morocco's second-highest mountain and one of the great summit objectives of the High Atlas.
Reach the summit ridge and take in extraordinary views across the central High Atlas, with distant landscapes extending towards the southern mountains and the Sahara. After the summit, descend towards the remote Oulilimt Valley for the night's camp.

After the summit day, descend gradually from the high mountain terrain towards the Aflafal Valley. The landscape begins to soften as the route loses altitude, with rugged slopes giving way to greener valleys and more sheltered terrain.
This quieter stage of the journey offers time to enjoy the scenery and experience the remote character of the southern side of the M'Goun Massif.

Continue through the lower valleys of the M'Goun region, following trails alongside streams and mountain rivers. The route passes through traditional Amazigh settlements where agriculture, architecture and daily life remain closely connected to the surrounding mountains.
This village-to-village stage provides a fascinating cultural contrast to the high-altitude landscapes experienced earlier in the expedition.

Enter one of the most memorable landscapes of the entire journey: the spectacular M'Goun Gorges. Follow the river through a narrow canyon surrounded by towering rock walls, with sections of the route requiring you to walk through shallow water depending on conditions.
After completing the gorge section, meet the vehicle and transfer towards Boutaghrar, where you can relax and enjoy a comfortable guesthouse stay after an adventurous day in the canyon.

After breakfast, begin the scenic return journey towards Marrakech. Travel through the High Atlas and cross the Tizi n'Tichka Pass before stopping at Aït Benhaddou, one of Morocco's most famous fortified villages and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After exploring this historic kasbah and its surrounding landscape, continue across the Atlas towards Marrakech, bringing your 8-day M'Goun Summit Trek to an unforgettable close.
