The Siroua Massif offers a very different trekking experience from Morocco's better-known High Atlas routes. Located in the Anti-Atlas, this rugged mountain region combines ancient volcanic formations, wide open plateaus, remote valleys and traditional Amazigh communities.

Over eight days, the route leads through changing mountain landscapes and isolated villages before reaching the summit of Mount Siroua at approximately 3,304 metres. Along the way, the journey combines challenging mountain walking with encounters with local pastoral life and the cultural heritage of southern Morocco.

From the streets of Marrakech to the summit of Jebel Siroua, this eight-day journey crosses the landscapes of southern Morocco, from cultivated valleys and Amazigh villages to high mountain pastures and volcanic ridges.

Day 1

Arrival in Marrakech

Your Siroua adventure begins in Marrakech. Arrive at Marrakech Menara Airport, meet your local team and settle into the Red City before the journey south. Complimentary airport transfers are provided for travelers arriving on this day.

This is an arrival and welcome day rather than a trekking stage, giving you time to rest and prepare for the mountains ahead.

Day 2

Marrakech to Tizi n'Test & Tislit

Leave Marrakech behind and cross the spectacular Tizi n'Test mountain pass towards southern Morocco. The road leads into the Taliouine region, on the southern side of the Siroua Massif, where the High Atlas gives way to the rugged landscapes of the Anti-Atlas and Souss.

After meeting the local mountain team, we leave the vehicles and begin walking. The trail winds through dramatic gorges and cultivated fields before reaching our first mountain camp at Tislit, around 1,500 metres.

Day 3

Tislit to Aït Oubyal & Tizgui

Today the Siroua trek takes us into the green valley of Assif n'Aït Oubyal. The contrast between the dry mountain environment and cultivated valley is one of the defining experiences of trekking in this part of southern Morocco.

The trail passes through several traditional villages, offering opportunities to encounter local communities along the route. Above Tizgui, the trail climbs towards a high summer grazing area where we camp at approximately 2,325 metres.

Day 4

Tizgui to Guiliz Peak & Tagragra

The route now climbs onto the higher ridges of the Siroua Massif. We cross the crest of Guiliz Peak at approximately 2,900 metres, where the landscape opens into broad mountain views across Jebel Siroua.

After crossing the high point, we descend towards Tagragra and camp near a group of mountain caves at around 2,600 metres. The day includes approximately 500 metres of ascent.

Day 5

Tagragra to Jebel Siroua Summit & Tissouitine

The summit stage begins across a rugged landscape of steep-sided gorges and dramatic rock formations. Gradually we gain height towards Jebel Siroua, the highest point of the journey at approximately 3,305 metres.

From the summit, the views extend across the High Atlas and Anti-Atlas, revealing the remarkable position of Siroua between Morocco's major mountain regions. We then descend to the high meadows of Tissouitine at around 2,450 metres for our mountain camp.

Day 6

Tissouitine to Ighmour Valley & Tomahakout

After leaving the high meadows, we make a short descent before climbing towards a mountain pass leading into the Ighmour Valley. The character of the landscape gradually changes as we move between high mountain terrain and the inhabited valleys below.

The trail passes through several villages before descending towards the fields of Tomahakout, where we establish our final mountain camp.

Day 7

Tomahakout to Tamazight & Return to Marrakech

Our final walking stage takes us for approximately two hours through rugged terrain towards Tamazight. As we leave the mountains behind, look back towards Jebel Siroua and the landscapes crossed during the trek.

From Tamazight, we meet our vehicle and drive back towards Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas via the Tizi n'Tichka pass. After arriving in the Red City, there is time to explore the famous Djemaa el-Fna square and enjoy an evening back in Marrakech.

Day 8

Marrakech Airport & Departure

Enjoy your final moments in Marrakech before your airport transfer. Depending on your flight schedule, there may be time for a final breakfast or a last walk through the city before heading to Marrakech Menara Airport for your flight home.

Your Siroua Massif trek comes to an end, leaving you with memories of Jebel Siroua, remote mountain trails, Amazigh villages and the distinctive landscapes of southern Morocco.
