Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need To Know

Find answers to the most common questions about the 6-Day Toubkal Circuit via Lake Ifni.

Is the Toubkal Circuit difficult?

+

Yes. The Toubkal Circuit is a demanding High Atlas trekking expedition involving several long hiking days, high mountain passes above 3,500 metres and the ascent of Mount Toubkal (4,167 m). It is best suited to hikers with good fitness and previous mountain trekking experience.

What makes this trek different from the classic Toubkal ascent?

+

Instead of following the standard out-and-back route, this expedition takes you deep into the Toubkal Massif through remote valleys, traditional Amazigh villages, Lake Ifni, Tizi n'Ouanoums Pass and lesser-travelled mountain trails before reaching Mount Toubkal.

When is the best time to do the Toubkal Circuit?

+

The main trekking season runs from April to November, with the most comfortable conditions generally found during the warmer months. Winter departures are possible, but snow and ice can make the high passes significantly more challenging and require appropriate equipment and experience.

Where do we sleep during the trek?

+

The itinerary combines one night in a traditional guesthouse in Amsouzert with four nights of mountain camping and a night at the Toubkal Refuge, depending on the final expedition arrangements. This combination allows you to experience both Amazigh mountain hospitality and remote alpine landscapes.

Will my luggage be carried during the trek?

+

Yes. Mules are used to transport the main luggage, camping equipment, food and other group supplies. You only need to carry a comfortable daypack with your personal essentials, water and anything you need during the day's hike.

Can the itinerary be customized?

+

Absolutely. Private departures can be tailored around your fitness level, available time and travel goals. We can also discuss additional nights, alternative routes, extra summits or a different pace depending on your preferences.
